Role Title

Portfolio Assistant

Purpose of role

The Portfolio Assistant supports the Equity Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts by processing trades, interacting with the broker-dealer community, preparing reports and presentations, undertaking special projects and providing administrative support to the department.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Periodically prepare performance reports and presentations for the Equity Team and the CIO using Morningstar Direct. Knowledge of Morningstar Direct and FactSet are a plus.
* Periodically prepare spreadsheets for Fund Accounting, the Equity Team, and the outside brokerage community. Maintain, upgrade and create spreadsheets as necessary. Proficiency with MS Excel is required.
* Periodically prepare presentations for Board level meetings, as well as the salesforce. Proficiency with MS PowerPoint and Word is required.
* Act as back up to equity traders. Assist with order entry and reconciliation using Bloomberg's order management system. Knowledge of Bloomberg is a plus.
* Enter trade allocation data into FIMCO's accounting system.
* Facilitate settlement of trades by acting as a point of contact for both internal departments and brokerage community, including Accounting Department, custodial banks and counterparty brokers.
* Provide administrative support to the department, including but not limited to telephone support, processing of departmental invoices and attendance records, clerical tasks, data entry, word processing and filing.
* Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word are required. Knowledge of Morningstar Direct, FactSet and Bloomberg are a plus.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's Degree. Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or similar fields is preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

* Proficient in MS Office with accurate data entry skills.
* Excellent verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to prioritize and work under pressure as part of a team.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Business analysis experience in a financial services environment is a plus.
