Job Description

Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty position(s) at all levels in Electrical and Computer Engineering starting in August 19, 2015.

Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Priority areas of specialization are: Information security in hardware, Cyber physical systems, Embedded systems and advanced computer architectures, Distributed computing, RF/ microwave/ antennas/ wireless sensor networks, Bio-medical electronics, Bio-inspired and quantum information processing. Exceptional candidates from other areas will also be considered.

To address modern technological challenges from advanced computation to renewable energy and human health, the Department strives to foster a new academic culture that promotes cross-disciplinary synergies with departments within CEC, College of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, and others at FIU and around the globe. With 21 faculty members, the Department includes 3 NSF CAREER Awardees and 1 IEEE Fellow.

Candidates for tenure-track positions must provide evidence of outstanding potential in research and teaching. Senior candidates should have an extensive record of research and funding. Candidates from industry and government laboratories are encouraged to apply. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Several members are active participants of NSF Engineering Research Centers (ERCs) and other national and international research centers. In 11/12, the Department's externally funded research expenditures exceeded $2.5M.
