WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Consultant Intern for our New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, or Denver offices.

The successful candidate will be part of a team working on national and international engagements. You will work mainly on engagements to advise public sector clients on the funding, finance, and delivery of major capital projects and a variety of related infrastructure management and policy issues. This position will entail tasks such as analyzing needs and opportunities, evaluating alternatives and priorities, developing the business case for infrastructure investments, analyzing project and program funding and financing options, developing funding strategies, reviewing and interpreting federal legislation and guidance, helping clients understand and meet grant requirements, performing quantitative analyses, and providing strategic support in all phases of infrastructure planning and project development.

We are looking for candidates with well-rounded skillsets including, but not limited to, the following:

* Research Skills / Relevant Experience (planning, transportation, environmental, and energy)
* Analytical Skills (including financial modeling skills)
* Writing skills (and demonstrated experience)
* Communication Skills
* Problem-solving and strategic planning ability
* Interest in the industry or experience within industry
* Exposure to team collaboration

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in progress with a major in civil engineering, business, economics, finance, urban or transportation planning, liberal arts, operations research, or related field
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills
* Demonstrated research skills and experience
* Interest or experience in the infrastructure industry and related sectors
* Ability to think creatively, work independently and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision
* Ability to work in a team environment, synthesize problems, and communicate point of view and analytical results
* Available to work during Summer 2020 for 10 to 12 weeks

Preferred Qualifications

* Advanced degree in progress in business, economics, urban or transportation planning, civil engineering, public policy, or related field
* Management consulting or advisory experience
