First Solar's engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) team is looking for candidates who believe in our mission of providing cost-advantaged solar technology through innovation, customer engagement, industry leadership and operational excellence. Our team strives to design and safely build photovoltaic (PV) power and storage systems that we, and the communities they are located in, can be proud of for decades to come.

The EPC team is looking for individuals that want to be at the forefront of leading change in PV systems including our industry leading accomplishment of continuously reducing the cost of solar power through innovation in both systems design and safe execution. Ideal candidates will constantly challenge and change their own assumptions and ideas and, through collaboration, allow us to continually improve on our reliable designs and safe execution. Intern Job Title: Business Analytics Intern (Must have Intern in the Title)

Reports To: Director Business Operations, EPC

Job Status: Hourly

Job Overview:

Expected Length of Internship:

* Internship will last 1 semester. There is some flexibility on total duration and begin/end dates (2019 summer would be latest start).
* As an internship company, we allow flexibility to be enrolled in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn't interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Experience:

* 0-3 years exposure to/working with Business Analytics, Statistics, Information System processes and software applications.
* Useful experience:
* Excel skills creating macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, etc.
* Able to understand and trace data table structures and data flows.
* Proven interpersonal and communication skills in-person, on the phone and via e-mail.
* Basic SQL query skills a plus.



Education:

* Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master's or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree. If in BS program, prefer 3rd year student.
* Typical degree program would be Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

Required Skills/Competencies:

* Requirements gathering from a technical standpoint.
* Create documentation according to project standards.
* Write functional specifications and work instructions.

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

* Intern will work with and under the direction of, Analytics Engineers on the development and maintenance of metrics and measures, which are the key performance indicators of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects and the health of the business.
* Intern will (working with Analytics Engineers) apply formal problem solving methodologies to EPC business work processes to measure business performance, analyze results, institutionalize improvements, and establish control mechanisms. This will include working on one or more continuous improvement projects (TBD at start of internship).
* Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

* May be required to travel to a project site for project data collection/work observation.
* Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

About First Solar, Inc.

First Solar, Inc. designs and manufactures solar modules using a thin film semiconductor technology. The Company's solar modules employ a thin layer of cadmium telluride semiconductor material to convert sunlight into electricity. Each solar module is approximately 2 feet by 4 feet (60 centimeters by 120 centimeters) and had an average rated power of approximately 73 watts, during the fiscal year ended December 27, 2008.
