Position Description

The Loss Prevention Analyst is responsible for mitigating risk and minimizing actual losses through the investigation of suspicious activity. Responsible for research and analysis of activities including identifying internal control breakdowns and taking action in situations that pose a risk to the Bank. Must be able to use critical thinking to separate relevant information from extraneous information and provide rapid response to fraudulent incidents and emerging threats. Point of contact for compromised accounts through Fraud Central, to verify legitimacy, take corrective action and manage customer expectations. Communicate with associates and customers about the processes for handling suspected fraudulent or high risk issues. Ability to participate in special projects, including testing, preparing charts, graphs and metrics to support the department.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree with a minimum of 2 years bank operations experience including a strong background in branch operations, bank loss prevention, or a Teller position.
Associate degree with a minimum of 4 years bank operations experience including a strong background in branch operations, bank loss prevention, or a Teller position.
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years bank operations experience including a strong background in branch operations, bank loss prevention, or a Teller position.

Additional Requirements:
Strong Microsoft office application skills and database management skills.
Sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to adapt to change in a fast paced environment while maintaining quality.
Thorough knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and practices including related industry and regulatory issues.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing.
Working knowledge of interaction and complexity of bank systems & applications and ability to quickly grasp new vendor software.
Good inductive and deductive reasoning with the ability to scope complex problems and to take action to minimize risks.

Other Preferred Qualifications:
ACH Certification or experience working with ACH credit & debit origination.
Bachelor degree strongly preferred.
Experience with presentment and payment systems.
Knowledge of TSYS, FDR & Falcon systems.
