Position Description

The Manager Risk Monitoring and Reporting is a new role reporting to the Senior Manager Enterprise & Operational Risk Management (E&ORM). Responsibilities include:

- Driving change across the organization through the development and implementation of First Citizens Bank's (FCB) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and Operational Risk Management (ORM) Framework across the enterprise. The Manager will successfully socialize these frameworks through the identification of risk metrics (i.e., KRIs) and risk reporting to inform management and board risk decision making.
- Directs the effective monitoring and reporting of data from implementation of ERM risk governance, identification, measurement assessment and oversight activities.
- Responsible for the sourcing, identification, implementation and administration of a Governance, Risk & Control technology solution.
- Develop and implement tools and processes which facilitate and enhance ERM across the organization (e.g., data monitoring and reporting tools, shared databases, standards, guides, etc.). Ensure tools are well documented and consistently implemented, validating as appropriate.
- Prepare management and board reporting collaborating with the Risk Governance & Operations department and business units across the enterprise.
- Partner with the Strategic Planning office on risk assessments for the New Product and Services program, utilizing a robust risk assessment questionnaire with key risk and control partners.
- The Manager is responsible for maintaining influential relationships with Senior Management across the Three Lines of Defense and providing support for Management and Board Committees (e.g., Operational Risk Committee, Board Risk Committee, etc.) as directed. Maintains effective and productive external relationships.
- Acts as the subject matter expert for risk metrics, monitoring and reporting, including technology solutions, including development of strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement to improve program and process maturity levels and ensuring the consistent application of risk principles and regulations. Develops complex resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. Uses judgment within broadly defined policies and practices.
- Responsible for managing and developing a team of professionals, including hiring and performance evaluations.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor degree with a minimum of 8 years financial services experience in operational risk management or enterprise risk management, and application development, programming and reporting.
-OR-
Master degree with a minimum of 6 years financial services experience in operational risk management or enterprise risk management, and application development, programming and reporting.

Additional Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of enterprise risk management risk disciplines, risk assessment techniques, risk monitoring and reporting and application administration.
- Exceptional internal customer relations and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to identify, analyze, summarize, derive conclusions and provide relevant recommendations on a variety of issues. Excellent problem resolution skills.
- Ability to work with and influence management and business units, making recommendations based upon sound conclusions.
- Ability to track and coordinate large and complex processes.
- Excellent management and leadership skills. Ability to coach, train and lead staff.
- Ability to work with all levels of management and external regulators and auditors.
- Manages the activities of a diverse functional area through department supervisor/managers or a group of professional associates.
- Maintains responsibility for planning, budgeting and monitoring long-term strategic initiatives.
Conducts long-term planning to determine future direction of the department. Errors in decisions normally result in failure to achieve critical goals and company objectives.
- Working knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk (e.g. FDIC, OCC, FRB, CFPB, etc.)
- Ability to identify and develop solutions for new/updated regulatory guidance
- Working knowledge of Risk Control Frameworks (COSO, Basel etc.)
- Requires an in-depth knowledge of related fields and the ability to apply this information to the role.
- Advanced PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel and PowerPoint

Other Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA)
- Enterprise risk and/or operational risk experience
- Application development, programming and administration
- Project management or consulting (internal/external) experience
- Excellent conflict management skills
