Internship Scope of Work

This internship position offers a training opportunity for a student to obtain school credit towards a fellowship or degree. The intern will be working in collaboration with the Deputy Technical Director EpiC and receive additional support from biostatisticians.

To help countries make national and subnational scale up projections and impact, a draft tool has been developed. The tool relies on PEPFAR treatment data to project scaleup rates and estimate potential savings. For more comprehensive projections additional data such as facility waiting time, dispensing time, viral load coverage and suppression, hour rates for health care workers, dispensing fees if applicable, ability and willingness to pay (ATP, WTP) from studies or from published national poverty rate estimates.

The intern will review published and grey literature for 9 sub-Saharan African countries to identify this data that will enable scale up projections for available DD models.

Anticipated Duration

* 30 working days


The ideal candidate will have a mix of the following skills, interests, and/or experience:

* Highly organized, proactive, and detail oriented
* Familiar with research methodologies used in social sciences research
* Familiarity or interest in HIV care and treatment programs

Supervisor: Technical Director, HIV Division

Typical Physical Demands:

* Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

* Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand held devices.
