POSITION SUMMARY:

In its mission to monitor dynamics in the banking sector with the goal of promoting sound supervisory policy, the Surveillance and Industry Analysis unit provides analytical products and services related to the financial sector. Under direct supervision, the successful intern candidate will gain a general understanding of the unit. The candidate will contribute to the unit's objective of monitoring the banking sector by maintaining and developing analytical products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assist with the update and/or creation of financial market and/or banking condition and surveillance products.
* Conduct research on banking conditions.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of risk monitoring dashboards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Graduate student, preferably first-year, majoring in economics, finance or another quantitative field.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
* Some programming experience required (e.g. SAS, R, Python, SQL, Matlab).
* Bloomberg and/or Tableau experience preferred.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements.

WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS:

* Approximately 20 hours/week, with flexibility around student's schedule.
* No travel.

NOTES:

* This is an internship from September 2019 to May 2020 located in the Dallas office. Interns will be expected to work 20 hours per week for the entire internship period.
* Employment is contingent upon the selected candidate passing a background check and drug screen. Candidates will be required to submit at least three references and submit fingerprints prior to employment.
* By federal law, this position requires that candidates fall within one of the following citizenship categories: (1) U.S. citizen, (2) U.S. national, (3) U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, or (4) U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.
