Salary: $134,789.00 - $164,200.00

Full Performance level: GS - 15

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for policies, plans and procedures. Develops, coordinates and implements all matters of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) frameworks, plans, policies, strategy and related guidance as they relate to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) WMD mission.
  • Provides advice, guidance and recommendations to Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate (WMDD) executive management on issues involving WMD plans, policy, strategy and coordination with United States Government (USG) interagency partners as they relate to the FBI WMD mission.
  • Responsible for monitoring and assessing WMDD coordination with USG interagency partners while ensuring FBI equities are fully recognized, integrated and leveraged as part of overall USG WMDD plans, policy and strategy.
  • Ensures consistent interpretation of pertinent plans, policies and strategy among FBI WMDD components, FBI Headquarters Divisions and FBI Field Offices. This includes regular and constant liaison and outreach with affected FBI WMDD partners.
  • Represents the FBI at National Security Council (NSC)-coordinated interagency meetings and associated working groups and ensures that FBI roles and responsibilities are fully integrated as part of any overarching policy, planning or strategy developed as part of these activities.
  • Reviews legislation and congressional testimony from various USG partner agencies to determine potential impact and relevancy to the FBI WMD mission and effect on FBI equities. As needed, provides recommendations to ensure said equities are addressed, accurately described or fully integrated as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized Experience (SE):

Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS - 14 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the USG FBI mission, strategy and legal policy, plans and priorities as well as an understanding of the overall USG efforts to prevent, detect, deter and respond to actual or potential criminal/terrorist use or threat to use weapons of mass destruction.
  • Knowledgeable of the USG nuclear weapons programs and policies.
  • Knowledgeable of nuclear weapons and engineering principles, theories, and practices for the design and analysis of weapons and reactor systems.
  • Refined interpersonal communication skills and abilities to represent the views and policies of the FBI, to negotiate, coordinate and resolve potential conflict areas with USG officials at all levels as well as promote the overall mission and objectives of the FBI.

Additional Information

  • The FBI is in the Executive Branch of the federal government. It is one of the components of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The FBI is the principle investigative arm of the DOJ. All FBI positions are in the excepted service.
