Job Description

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Academic Secretary for the College of Business and Executive Education. In addition to active Blackboard Learning Management System monitoring, this individual will perform clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, organizing and maintaining files and providing information to callers. Answer inquiries and obtain information for students, visitors, faculty and staff. Provide support specific to the functions and services of the departments, as well as to the Business Dean and Chairs. Complies reports on enrollment and retention in all executive programs for the Dean. The selected candidate reports directly to the Director, Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program, Director, Master of Science in Management (M.S.M.) Program and the Dean, College of Business and Executive Education.

This is a full-time, 12-month position. This position is funded and will begin as soon as the qualified candidate is found. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Major functions and responsibilities include:

* Monitor student online (Blackboard) attendance/participation, grades, enrollment, disenrollment, re-enrollment, disciplinary action, program compliance, make-ups and associated academic and administrative information
* Provide general secretarial support for assigned departments
* Receive telephone calls, visitors, and electronic inquiries and refer them to appropriate individual
* Coordinate with Graduate Enrollment to ensure students meet admission requirements (GMAT, transcripts)
* Maintain detailed enrollment and retention records for accreditation and budgetary purposes
* Act as a liaison between MBA and M.S.M. students, instructors and various offices of the institution
* Provide departmental assistance for the Directors, faculty and students; draft MBA and M.S.M. academic calendars in advance per university policy
* Update and edit MBA and M.S.M. handbooks and other program material; input textbook information into Faulkner's online bookstore as assigned
* Prepare hiring contracts for graduate adjunct faculty upon request
* Provide SACS, IACBE/Business and other accreditation support for all executive programs
* Create retention reports for executive programs and format for presentation
* Provide oversight for testing and evaluation of comprehensive and makeup exams (proctoring)
* Work with course design and student information on Blackboard for MBA and M.S.M.

Position Requirements

* Bachelor of Business Administration degree preferred, others considered; High School graduate or GED required
* Sound knowledge of Blackboard and Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of updating web sites
* Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
* Ability to operate a personal computer, copier and fax machine
* Active member of the church of Christ
