Job Description

Augmented Reality will change our lives as fundamentally as personal computers and smartphones have. AR glasses will let you transcend space, conjure objects and devices into existence and amplify your senses, memory and cognition. Our mission is centered on designing useful technology and getting it out into the world. We are looking for motivated, team-oriented user experience design interns who want to change the world and who are able to thrive in ambiguous new design spaces. Join our team of designers who are inventing the future of Augmented Reality and help define wearable AR experiences for Facebook. You will be expected to use your full range of interaction, 3D, motion, visual design and prototyping skills. You'll be responsible for conceiving, researching, designing, prototyping and implementing features for future products, from conception to launch. You'll work closely with the Design, Engineering and Product management teams at Facebook AR/VR. The ideal candidate is a highly creative individual who has experience designing fundamentally new ways of interacting in 3D user interfaces. This position is based in Seattle.

PRODUCT DESIGN INTERN, AR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design compelling AR user interfaces and experiences.



Synthesize broad and ambiguous business requirements and accomplish them through design.

Design end-to-end flows and visuals and individually contribute to the product and feature set.

Create product-ready assets for internal rapid testing.

Solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product.

Clearly articulate design decisions to various internal stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.



A portfolio featuring examples of interaction, 3D, motion, visual and prototyping work.

1 or more YOE in Product Design for AR/VR experiences.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Unity and 3D software (C4D, Houdini, Maya, 3dsMax, or Blender)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.



Currently has, or is in the process of, obtaining a Bachelors or Masters degree in Product Design or a related field.

Experience designing in cross-functional environments.

Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for user research.
