Job Description

Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Systems Development Intern will assist in the development and testing of instruments, software and accessories designed for use in vitro diagnostic medical device systems. The position is intended to be a part-time opportunity for an engineering or science undergraduate to obtain hands-on engineering experience in medical device development while contributing to the development effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Assemble instruments and test fixtures
* Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and refinement of device designs
* Recommend improvements based on test results
* Design test fixtures and accessories under supervision of engineers
* Program test fixtures
* Collect and analyze data
* Prepare and present written and oral reports
* Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork
* Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures
* Regular and reliable attendance

Physical Requirements

* Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time and up to 4 hours per day
* Ability to work at laboratory bench up to 4 hours at a time
* Ability to assemble/disassemble mechanical equipment


Minimum Qualifications

* Strong observational and analytical skills
* Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
* Enrollment towards Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science in junior or senior standing
* Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
* Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

* 3.5 GPA or higher
