Job Description

Evans Farms G.P., Fort Valley, GA now hiring 25 temporary Farm Workers to work in Dooly, Crawford, Crisp, Turner, Lee, Macon, Peach, and Houston Counties, GA from April 12, 2018 to January 31, 2019. Hourly wage of $11.00. Perform manual labor to maintain orchards including pruning and thinning of pecan trees, plant and cultivate pecan trees and harvest pecans by hand and machine. Clean, grade, sort, weigh, sack, pack, and load harvested products. Operate farm vehicles, tractors, machinery, and equipment. Ongoing orchard maintenance including pruning and thinning on ladders and lifts. Use of 10 foot ladder and/or lift on pruning towers up to 65 feet to prune pecan trees. Work is outside in hot and/or rainy conditions and requires prolonged bending on hands and knees, walking, sitting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

During pecan harvest, work is in extremely cold and/or rainy weather. Hazardous occupation. Two months of verifiable pecan pruning experience is required. Three quarters of an average of 47.5 hours/week guaranteed. Employer may pay an end of season bonus based on performance. Employer may also increase pay to workers who have completed at least six (6) months of service, based on performance. Optional cash advances may be available to workers during the employment period in emergency situations at the discretion of the employer. Reimbursement of approved cash advances will be payroll deducted when expressly authorized by the worker in writing.

Employees that are provided with cellular phones that are set up with the company's designated minute plan may be asked to reimburse the company if the employee exceeds the allotted amount of minutes due to abusive personal use. Tools, supplies and equipment provided at no cost. Housing provided at no cost if outside commuting area. If applicable, transportation and subsistence expense to the job will be paid upon completion of 50% of the employment period, or earlier.
