Job Description

Esterline, AVISTA is seeking a qualified Software Architect to build out our AutoSAR capabilities by migrating and developing software reuse components built upon the AUTOSAR framework into a reuse library enabling integration into multiple enterprise products.  This exciting new position is targeting engineers with MBSD (Model Based Software Design) experience. We have several current and up-coming product development programs which will require additional capacity with this skillset.

The position will be considered at our Platteville, WI Headquarters, or at one of our satellite offices in Cedar Rapids, IA or Blaine, MN.  

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: - Minimum B.S. degree from accredited program (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Agriculture Engineering)
Skills and Experience:  
  • 5 to 8 years of experience designing and implementing embedded software (C, C++) for embedded vehicle controls and/or power electronics
  • Expertise in formal software development lifecycle activities including peer reviews, defect tracking, verification testing, deployment, etc.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink modeling, simulation, and code generation
  • Expertise in developing low-level embedded software for microcontroller operation, memory organization, and microcontroller peripherals
  • Proficiency in developing application-level software to implement features and functions at a product and system level
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams employing agile development methodologies for product development

Responsibilities:
  • Within PREEvision
    • Identify multiple unique instances of AUTOSAR artifacts in PREEvision
    • Understand usage across platforms to harmonize requirements and create reuse artifacts based on software reuse design principles (i.e. SOLID design principles)
    • Migrate artifacts to a reuse library ensuring the artifacts meet the reuse guidelines
      • Comprehensive requirement documentation
      • Comprehensive logical and software architecture
    • Eliminate artifact duplicates and replace with references to single unique instance
  • Within Matlab/Simulink
    • Create models to be used in reuse library that enable products to reuse per their requirements
    • Create Model-In-the-Loop (MIL) test to confirm the behavior of the models based on the requirements
  • Within Subversion
    • Organize software models per reuse team's defined structure
  • Within SharePoint
    • Document availability of reuse artifacts with references to artifact locations

Desired Qualifications:
  •  Experience with on or off-road automotive vehicles and systems
  •  Experience with hybrid-electric systems and/or power electronics
  •  Experience with AUTOSAR architecture
  •  Experience with communication networks (e.g. CAN etc.) and communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO11783, UDS, etc.)
  • Kanban approach, Certified Scrum Master, Scrum, Agile, refine backlog, user stories, plan and execute user stories/sprints, retrospectives.
