Job Summary/Purpose:

Provides legal advice and services to the Louisiana Regulatory Affairs department and other internal clients. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to senior attorneys, including litigation support to first or second chair counsel as applicable.
  • Provides resolution of business or technical issues by identifying legal and regulatory solutions and recommending a course of action.
  • Serves as a legal adviser that is assigned responsibility for an area of the legal department or a geographic or functional area.
  • Responsible for in depth knowledge and competency in areas of law and regulation relevant to client support.
  • Responsible for understanding the legal issues affecting area of responsibility
  • Responsible for drafting routine documents and pleadings and negotiating routine matters with moderate oversight.
  • Responsible for providing proactive and day-to-day advice and counsel to specifically assigned business clients within the Entergy organization.
  • Work with others and participate on cross-functional teams with business clients.
  • Responsible for interpreting laws, rulings and regulations for the business and for working with / supervising paraprofessionals.

 

Minimum Requirements-Education:

A Juris Doctor is required.

 

Minimum Requirements-Experience:

0-1 year.

Desired: 3+ years in a law firm or in-house in one or more applicable areas of expertise, such as Regulatory (federal and/or state), Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Nuclear, Environmental.

 

Minimum Requirements-Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong legal research and writing skills.  Some experience conducting depositions and arguing motions preferred.  Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of the utility industry, regulation and ratemaking concepts as well as an understanding of  Entergy strategic business values and objectives.

Desired: Licensed to practice law in Louisiana.
