**This position is not being filled until 4th Quarter 2017, but we will be performing EEI MASS tests for qualified applicants at the beginning of September 2017**




Under directive supervision, with limited latitude for planning or laying out of working details, must be able to perform complex electrical work involved in the inspection, repair and installation of electrical equipment in nuclear generating stations and electrical substations and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:


  1. Install and maintain all classes of electric circuits in conduit or open wiring, lighting fixtures, motors, controls and other electrical auxiliaries.
  2. Clean and inspect motors including check of clearance and insulation resistance and change of oil as required.
  3. Test electrical circuits and equipment for insulation resistance.
  4. Inspect and make necessary repairs, adjustments, etc. to oil circuit breakers, transformers, rotating electrical machinery, controls, miscellaneous switching equipment.
  5. Diagnose and correct faults in electrical apparatus, such as generators, motors, control and protective equipment, transformers, storage batteries and other electrical auxiliaries.
  6. Perform work on energized circuits.
  7. Set up rigging for the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment, foundations, supports, etc.
  8. Lay out work from prints or verbal instructions.
  9. Direct work of assistants and assist other electricians.
  10. Assist in general operation and maintenance during unusual or emergency periods.
  11. Prepare maintenance and other routine reports.
  12. Perform necessary housekeeping as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards.
  13. Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards and other regulatory agencies.
  14. Test current and potential transformers for ratio and phase angle errors.
  15. Make thorough and complete investigations of malfunctions of relays, control devices, carrier current, supervisory, telemeter equipment, etc., and turn in complete written reports.
  16. Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of protective, control, and auxiliary relays.
  17. Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of carrier current equipment.
  18. Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of supervisory control equipment.



  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have worked at least two years as Electrician 2nd Class ‑ Nuclear or have had equivalent experience in electrical work.
  3. Must have at least four years' experience in electrical or related work.
  4. Have a thorough knowledge of electrical work, such as conduit and wiring installation, motor and starter maintenance, wiring diagram and connections, etc.
  5. Be familiar with the advanced principles of electricity, magnetism and electric circuits.
  6. Be familiar with the strength and use of ropes, chains, cables, etc., as used in rigging.
  7. Be proficient in the use of and nomenclature of tools and equipment ordinarily used.
  8. Be thoroughly familiar with the operation, construction, and function of rotating electrical equipment, switches, transformers, instruments, control and accessory equipment, etc.
  9. Be able to compute bills of material for jobs, working from specifications or from oral instructions.
  10. Be thoroughly familiar with Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules.
  11. Have ability to understand and perform semi‑routine operations of high complexity and considerable variety where standard methods of procedure are available.
  12. Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid.
  13. Know the locations of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment available.  Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires.
  14. Be able to write and review work procedures.
  15. Perform all types of insulation tests.
  16. Be able to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints in connection with the installation, testing, adjusting and maintenance of meters, switchboard equipment, relays, controls, and related equipment.



  1. Age ‑ 22 minimum.
  2. Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.
  3. Have strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.



  1. Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
  2. Be willing to attend and take part in safety meetings.
  3. Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.
  4. Be willing to work irregular or extra hours as required.

  6. Must have a temperament suited to jobs where manual dexterity, precision and patience are particularly essential.
  7. Be capable of assuming supervisory responsibilities.
  8. Be especially neat, clean and orderly in work and person.
  9. Understand importance of always rendering and maintaining first class, courteous service to all customers.
