Job Summary

This is an entry level Facilities Technician.  The title, Facilities Technician, designates employees, who under general supervision or direct supervision, perform various and complex assignments in connection with the maintenance, repair, test, installation and construction of equipment, apparatus and structures at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station normal working areas.


Reporting Relationships and Environment

The incumbent reports to a Supervisor Maintenance or lead.  The incumbent performs assignments of variety and complexity, using various procedures and methods.  To maintain proficiency, incumbents are required to successfully complete Company sponsored or directed supplementary courses of training, on and off the job as provided.  Incumbents must be able to perform assigned duties indoors and outdoors in all seasons of the year, for extended periods, including rotating shifts when necessary.


Illustrative Duties

  1. Operates forklifts, trucks and any other equipment or transportation equipment.
  2. Dismantles and reassembles all equipment in connection with repair work.
  3. Prepares sketches, documentation changes or other details to keep the records of the company up to date.
  4. Reports abnormal operating conditions to appropriate supervision and recommends corrective action.
  5. Works effectively with manufacturers’ and customers’ representatives, Company employees and supplemental employees.
  6. Keeps work area clean and neat.
  7. Performs tagging operations and is responsible for the proper tagging of equipment which is associated with the job.


Minimum Qualifications/General Requirements

  1. Must demonstrate an aptitude for mechanical and electrical maintenance work by successful completion of the Maintenance Abilities Selection System (MASS) test.
  2. Must be able to pass the minimum physical requirements as prescribed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Commonwealth of Massachusetts state regulations.  Must have normal color perception, correctable vision, hearing and sense of smell.
  3. Must be willing to enter job related training program and successfully complete all associated supplementary training and courses on and off the job as provided.
  4. Must not have phobias, such as fear of heights, radiation, etc. that would interfere with the performance of assigned duties.
  5. Must have valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
