QUALIFICATIONS PERTAINING TO ALL JOBS

 

In addition to the special personal qualifications quoted in the Job Qualifications, a person who desires to become and remain an employee of Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, LLC must meet the following general qualifications:

 

  • Pass a physical examination given by a company physician showing that, he or she, possesses normal health and use of sense required for the particular job, and pass a job test if required
  • Be responsible for safety of property and vehicles, automobile courtesy on streets and highways, and courteous contacts with customers and the public
  • Employee will be held responsible to eliminate, mitigate, and/or report to the proper authority any defect or unsafe condition pertaining to automotive or any other equipment that he is required to operate.
  • A person who is employed will be considered on trial for six months.
  • Be especially neat, clean, and orderly in work and person.
  • Have a working knowledge of computers and current computer applications specific to position
  • Must be able to work extended hours in support of overtime or emergency work including callout.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Installing pipe, backfill trenches, raising structures, large meters, equipment, etc.

 

 2. Use hand or power tools to cut, thread pipe, tap, align, bend and make up related fittings in the construction, maintenance and the removal of gas mains and services.

 

 3. Perform thermal and solvent welding in the installation and maintenance of plastic pipe distribution systems.

 

 4. Operate Company trucks and automobiles.

 

 5. Load and unload materials and supplies, tractor, backhoe, trenching machine, air compressor, etc.

 

 6.. Keep records, and all necessary paperwork.

 

 7.  Meet all OSHA, DOT, and Operators Qualification standards, training and procedures.

 

 8. Meet with and assist external contractors in resolving conflicts with gas facilitie

 

C. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Ability to detect presence of natural gas.

 

 2. Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.

 

 3. Have strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor in all kinds of outdoor weather conditions.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

Must have prior experience in operating equipment such as backhoe, trenching machine, and directional boring equipment.

 

 1. Must possess or be able to obtain Class A- C.D.L.

 

 2. Have thorough knowledge of regulations regarding the hauling of heavy equipment, trailers, etc.

 

 3. Know Company's safety rules and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation and be able to render practical first aid.

 

 

D. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 1. Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.

 

 2. Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.

 

 3. Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of superiors.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 2nd Class Pipeman - to be hired as a second class Pipeman, applicant must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in underground utility (water, cable, electric, etc.) construction and maintenance experience
