Job Description

Assistant Chief Engineer - CBS Radio, Seattle


Successful candidate will work with the engineering staff, closely participating in the installation, maintenance and repair of studio, transmitting and ancillary equipment in order to maintain competitive signals in the Puget Sound region while complying with FCC technical requirements

General Responsibilities:

* Maintain station operation through preventative and corrective maintenance.
* Establish and follow routing maintenance procedures and schedules for broadcast infrastructure.
* Install and preform maintenance on control consoles, audio routers, recording equipment, microphones, digital audio playback systems, transmitters, antenna systems, remote control systems, telephone systems, remote broadcast equipment, etc…
* Assist in the maintenance of computer network and backup systems.


* The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded set of skills from the following categories:
* Understanding of studio infrastructure including audio consoles, digital playback systems and automation, audio routers, studio equipment, studio phone systems
* Knowledge of telephone systems and protocols including POTS, 1A2, ISDN, T1, and VoIP.
* IT skills including PC/server troubleshooting and repair, local area networking and desktop help.
* Experience with electrical distribution systems, generators and UPS systems.
* Experience with AM and FM transmitters, remote control, STL and antenna systems.
* Ability to read schematics and a working knowledge of basic electronics theory and principals.
* Knowledge of EAS and FCC rules and regulations.
* Must be service oriented, a self-starter with excellent problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
