The Manager of Engineering leads the Engineering team to ensure the highest level of efficiency, reliability, security, redundancy, and performance of our IT infrastructure, including all network connectivity, servers, disk space, backups/replication, and telecommunications. The Manager of Engineering manages IT Engineers that lead and assist major projects specific to the design and implementation of the Credit Union's infrastructure

The Manager of Engineering leads the team in conducting proactive capacity & lifecycle planning ensuring all applications have sufficient computing resources and is in a supportable state; developing and documenting procedures that comply with IT policies and industry best practices; completing project tasks, ensuring standards exist and are complied with. The Manager of Engineering collaborates with other IT leadership to achieve superior service and infrastructure and acts as a support escalation point for the Infrastructure Support team

The Manager of Engineering ensures that the team meets established Service Level Agreements, identifies trends/problems, allocates staff to meet business objectives, identifies and implements improvements in processes, ensures compliance with policies and procedures, creates and documents efficient and secure procedures, manages IT assets, assists in the procurement of equipment and software, manages vendor relationships, and provides overall resource management for the Engineering team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Design & Deployment of IT Infrastructure:

* Ensure the efficient, reliable, responsive, and secure IT infrastructure deployments.
* Monitoring and proactive capacity planning for IT infrastructure
* Ensuring IT Infrastructure remains in a supportable condition.
* Ensuring daily backup/restoration capability of key systems
* Ensuring security/hardening/patching of key systems
* Adherence to corporate and security policies
* Manage vendor relationships for equipment, software, and support.
* Optimize solutions to keep costs to a minimum while maintaining superior service and performance
* Awareness/implementation of industry best practices to support achievement of member satisfaction.

Resource Management:

Perform resource management and ensure task completion required for the implementation of new projects in development, test, production, and Disaster Recovery environments.

Staff Development:

* Skills augmentation as appropriate to support Ent initiatives
* Mentoring/coaching
* Development of leadership skills
* Ensuring/augmenting staff knowledge of credit union operations
* Setting goals and objectives for staff

Other duties as required

Minimum formal education required for this position:

BS in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Etc.) or a degree equivalent 5+ year's relevant work experience (outside the required minimum work experience).

Preferred Education:

BS in a relevant field with relevant Post-Graduate work / continued education

Minimum work experience:

8+ years' of combined IT experience in telecommunications, networking, security, systems administration, Disaster Recovery, and/or server management.

2+ years of experience leading technical staff in support, maintenance, or project activities.

2+ years of experience with developing and documenting procedures.

(Preferred) 2+ years of Financial Institution IT experience.

Technical or specialized knowledge/skills:

* Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) with specific ability to translate detailed technical details to a non-technical audience.
* Proven leadership experience and the ability to interface with all levels (executive to entry level).
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in regulations and best practices for technical deployments in a financial industry.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Demonstrated experience (2+ years) and knowledge of IT systems/data security as it relates to financial institutions or other industries that must comply with federal regulations.
* Demonstrated experience leading teams leveraging cloud technologies, including but not limited to PaaS, IaaS & SaaS
* Demonstrated experience created, editing and documenting technical artifacts for projects
* Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
* Knowledge of ITIL best practices
* Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Visio.

Environmental, physical and psychological requirements:

* Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time in a climate controlled environment. Must be able to use fingers, hands, wrists for repetitive tasks such as typing, using a mouse, handling paper, and operating a telephone. Demands for visual and auditory acuity are typical of an office environment. Must be able to interact via email, telephone, or in person with diplomacy, tact, and courtesy with all members under varying circumstances. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
