Job Description

SUMMARY: The Transportation Intern is responsible for supporting Corporate Logistics in all modes of transportation worldwide. Additional responsibilities include assisting with analytics, rate negotiations, record retention, invoices, audit, and clerical work. The Intern must effectively communicate with all manufacturing facilities, distribution and service centers, and suppliers as directed to support business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional / Alternate duties may be assigned

* Work closely with department colleagues to facilitate the transportation of domestic and international freight.
* Work with international team to pull documentation for Importer Self Assessment (ISA) audits.
* Support department on auditing and approving invoice exceptions through third party bill pay system.
* Support collection and audit of import and export records from vendors and freight forwarders
* Request corrections on customs records from appropriate parties where required
* Support tracking and metrics on premium freight requests
* Support the freight claims program
* Support entry and schedule transportation for material return requests (MRAs) and request for analysis (RFAs)
* Perform other job duties / responsibilities as needed to support the business

* Contacts occur with others inside of Enersys as well as with third party warehouse staff, customs brokers, third party service providers, and other service providers.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
* Pursuing a degree in supply chain, business, or related field
* Candidates must have excellent attention to detail and the mental capability to troubleshoot and solve problems of high complexity or difficulty, as well as problem solve in a proactive, methodical manner. Must be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and comprehend complex issues.
* Candidates for this position should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and be capable of working as part of a team or alone.
