Job Description



  • Reviews general ledger accounts and prepares and adjusts journal entries.

  • Performs account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.

  • Maintains the general ledger chart of accounts.

  • Assists with initial internal control evaluations.

  • Posts monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals.

  • This position requires Property/General accounting knowledge so that the transactions that occur (ie: from the various sources), can be accurately uploaded into our Fixed Asset subledger.

  • This position also requires that journal entries be made for any necessary accruals and/or adjustments, needed in the General Ledger.

  • This would mean that the candidate would need to get acclimated with various modules of our PeopleSoft system (ie: AP & Purchasing, Asset Management, Project Costing, and the General Ledger) in order to be successful.

  • Maintaining CIP & Fixed Assets subledgers (including Adds, transfers, Adjs, and disposals)

  • Capitalization & Depreciation

  • Monthly closing of the subledger (prior to month end)

  • Preparing Journal entries in the General Ledger (all submissions due by noon of the 4th workday of each subsequent month)

  • Monthly Analysis/presentation at our Financial Statement meetings

  • Internal/External Reporting (including NAIC statutory reporting for Property, and other various external reporting to our Program Office)

  • Internal/External Audit requests

  • Departmental requests

  • Physical Inventory

Top Daily Responsibilities:

  • Journal entry preparation

  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • PeopleSoft system related tasks, specific to Asset Management and Project Costing modules

  • Financial analysis


  • Strong analytics

  • Understanding of Accounting and Finance

  • Knowledge of MS Office

  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft strongly preferred

  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task

  • Able to communicate effectively and comfortable in presenting

  • Works well in teams

  • Property/General accounting knowledge required

  • BA in Accounting or Finance plus 4 years. of financial data collection, processing, reporting and analysis experience
