Tax Analyst
Description:

Works under the direction of a senior accountant or accounting manager.

Performs detailed work assignments in one or several of the following areas: tax accounting, receivables, payables, payroll, property, general ledger and financial reporting.

Sets up and retains organization's tax records.

Files and prepares Federal, State corporate, and exempt organization tax returns and related reports.

Prepares and completes tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, property, sales and/or other tax liabilities.
-
Responsible for meeting all required deadlines.

Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company.

Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability.

Assist in tax audits.

May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions
Top Responsibilities:
-
Responsible for preparing property tax returns for all applicable properties and California welfare exemption applications

Provides support for county property tax audits
Responsible for auditing internal sales/use tax compliance filling of sales/use tax returns, researching and resolving sales/use tax issues with vendors, providing sales/use tax consulting services, and providing support for State sales/use tax audits
Requirements:

Min 4 years of tax accounting experience

Bachelor's degree in tax accounting or related field

Thorough knowledge of tax accounting policies, practices, and systems

Complete understanding and application of tax accounting principles, concepts, practices and standards
-
Broad application of tax accounting principles, theories and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields
