PRIMARY FOCUS

Leads delivery of safety governance and support service activities to US Field Operations.  Primary areas of focus are safety culture development and implementation of safety systems, processes and programs.  Key functions include provision of safety stewardship, implementation of health checks, coordination/support of incident management processes, and regulatory interface activities.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and provide input into development of departmental and business unit goals and objectives and oversee completion of the team's assigned activities as required to support achievement of same.

  • Manage performance and lead, develop, coach, mentor and motivate direct reports.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with field personnel through active involvement in field activities and a regular presence in the field.

  • Coach and mentor field safety resources and leadership teams as required to develop and maintain an interdependent safety culture within US Field Operations.

  • Facilitate safety culture development, measurement and support activities.

  • Provide technical advice and support as required to guide consistent and effective implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System and its supporting processes and programs.

  • Interface with Compliance, Internal Audit, Regulators and other 3rd parties completing safety audits, reviews, inspections and/or investigations and oversee development and timely completion of associated corrective action plans.

  • Manage completion of required regulatory reporting and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies to assure ongoing compliance.

  • Assist with development and manage implementation of management system health checks and provide oversight of associated corrective action plans.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement in safety performance and best practice sharing.

  • Lead and support the implementation of incident management processes to ensure their effectiveness inclusive of the incident notification process, incident investigation process, injury management process, corrective action planning process, and incident learnings communication process.

  • Assist and support regional safety resources responding to emergencies within the structure of the ICS system.

  • Assist the office safety team in delivery of services within the administrative offices in US as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Occupational health & safety related degree, diploma or certification.

  • Certification as a US Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible health and safety experience including experience implementing health & safety management systems, programs and tools within an operations environment within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry is preferred.Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Further education, training or experience specifically related to supervision, auditing and root cause analysis techniques would be an asset.

  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, training and coaching/mentoring skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, strategic, initiate and manage change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.

  • Proven interpersonal, communication, writing and computer skills.

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Salary and job level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
