Job Description

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

* Performs routine accounting and administrative duties and maintains various accounting related files, databases and supporting documentation.
* Reviews and processes payment requests, prepares and records billing charges, writes receipts for monies paid/received, and processes inter- and intra-departmental charges and fund transfers.
* Prepares requests for general and travel reimbursements, routes checks to appropriate parties, and follows up on unclaimed or incomplete checks.
* Prepares petty cash checks.
* Generates, reviews and prepares purchase orders and invoices for payment.
* Resolves vendor-related questions pertaining to invoices/charges and follows up on cancelled or delayed deliveries.
* Orders, receives and distributes supplies and equipment.
* May collect past due balances on customer accounts.
* Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

BACKGROUND: The Task Force for Global Health is an Emory University affiliate located in Decatur, GA. Its eight programs focus on building durable public health systems that serve all people. Focus areas include neglected tropical diseases, vaccines, and health systems strengthening. The Task Force received the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize-the world's largest award of its kind-in recognition of its extraordinary contributions to alleviating human suffering.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accounting Assistant will perform the duties shown as follows:

* Collate and code invoices for payment
* Process wire payments into Financial Edge system
* Prepare and process checks and wires for selected programs
* Create purchase orders for contracts in the accounting system and apply payments
* Translate foreign denominated invoices into U.S. dollars
* Update and maintain vendor database
* Review and verify expenses reports
* Maintain accounts payable files
* Assist in annual and program-specific financial audits
* Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities and initiatives as requested by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* A high school diploma or equivalent.
* One year of accounting clerk experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate degree in accounting
* Two years of relevant experience
* Experience with Financial Edge accounting system
* Familiar with foreign currency conversion
