Job Description

This critical position withinAppleton will lead a team of engineers and technicians focusing on product safetycertification and qualification testing. This person will coordinate activities acrossmultiple projects providing support for electrical distribution, control, andlighting products. This position isresponsible for ensuring agency certification and qualification testing, andsafe lab operations supporting product development and ongoing production arecompleted in a timely manner. Keyresponsibilities include oversight of product test programs for hazardous andordinary location global NEC and IEC certification projects. Additionally, this person will oversee all laboperations, testing procedures, laboratory compliance certifications, and labfacility maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

* Ensures product compliance testing is accomplished per applicable standards and per correct laboratory procedures
* Ensures lab operations comply with ISO/IEC 17025 and National Voluntary Lab Accreditation (NVLAP)
* Management of lab personnel development and training program
* Ensures best practices for lab safety are established and followed
* Oversight of certification projects for electrical distribution, electrical controls, and lighting products applying best in class project management practices
* Review test programs, timelines, and cost estimates for related projects
* Coordinatestest requirements and product samples necessary for certification with designengineering and test labs
* Deeply knowledgeable of applicable certification standards and related design requirements for global NEC and IEC certification
* Establish product qualification methods and practices, conduct product qualification per plans
* Assists identifying certification, qualification and reliability test partners; Coordinates product and component evaluation activity with partners
* Defines test system technology and architectures for efficiently conducting product certification and qualification testing activities
* Participates in industry organizations and trade associations supporting standards development
* Provides regular progress reports to management

Additional Information

* 25% Travel
* Relocation benefits are available for this position.
* Mustbe able to perform general office duties. Assembly of products using hand tools and occasional lifting ofequipment weighing up to 60 lbs

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelors of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
* Typical 3 years experience working with UL, CSA, or other similar certification organizations
* Strong working knowledge of Codes and Standards related to hazardous and ordinary location industrial products
* Knowledge of accelerated product testing and qualification methods
* Working knowledge of test monitoring and measurement instrumentation and systems
* Familiarity of the areas of mechanical design, electrical systems, and electronics
* Demonstrated project management skills
* Personal drive for innovation and learning
* Ability to work within a multidiscipline global technical team
* Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Masters of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or New Product Development
* Direct experience with design and agency certifications for hazardous location power distribution and control products meeting NEC, IEC, other global standards
