Reports to: Director of Pupil Services, School Psychologist

NEED

Elementary School District 159 is seeking three (3) qualified individuals to fill the position of School Psychologist Intern for the 2015/2016 school year.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of a certificated school psychologist and the general direction of the Director of Pupil Services, the school psychologist intern will provide psychological services, including testing, counseling and consulting to assist in meeting the social, emotional and educational needs of students in regular and special education programs; administer and interpret psychological assessments of students; prepare recommendations regarding the evaluation and placements of students; consult with teachers, administrators, specialists, agency and district personnel and parents; counsel students; coordinate behavior management programs; and perform related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Must be enrolled in an accredited university in either a Masters or Doctoral School Psychologist Program leading to an ISBE Type 73 School Service Personnel certification.
* Experience in pre-referral intervention planning and problem-solving, behavior management strategies, counseling, peer mediation, and parent training are strongly desired

Knowledge of and background in Problem-Solving Model preferred

* Ability to write and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEP's)
* Understanding and awareness of RTI and Inclusionary Practices in the field
* Knowledge and application of various assessment models for all children ages 3 thru 15
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public
* Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board ofEducation policies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Current enrollment in an approved Masters Degree Program from Accredited University/College Leading to Type 73 Certification for the position of SchoolPsychologist.

* Must have access to insured vehicle to perform home visits and a valid Illinois driver's license as needed to travel between schools and related organizations.

SALARY

The salary for this position is based upon the current ISBE Pupil Reimbursement Claim that has currently been established at an annual rate of $10,000.00. Actual salary will be based the FTE that the individual is assigned.
