Job Description

* Performs accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory testing that provides laboratory information to physicians and other healthcare professionals for the diagnosis and treatment of their patients. Follows the Laboratory's written policies and procedures in order to safely perform testing, ensure the quality of that testing, and train CLS student interns and new CLS employees. May also assist in the evaluation and selection of laboratory instrumentation, in process improvement projects, in maintaining laboratory accreditation, and in providing expertise in other areas that are consistent with the CLS scope of practice. Must be proficient in all areas (blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and limited microbiology). Must be available to work weekends on a rotational basis and holidays as needed. Will be expected to work occasionally on other shifts (by arrangement) when staffing requires. This position may be filled by a I or II depending on the applicant's experience and qualifications. This is an 8 hours shift position on nights.

This is an enterprise position. Will be expected, as needed, to accept work assignments across departments or El Camino Hospital campuses (Mountain View and Los Gatos) or locations within a 15-mile radius.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Baccalaureate degree in clinical laboratory science, or equivalent.

2. Valid California license for Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

3. MT(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, recommended.

4. Previous work experience preferred, but not required.
