The Job…………

You are responsible for curriculum development, classroom instruction, and providing subject matter expertise on national emergency management standards, including the Incident Command System (ICS).

Business Resiliency uses internal subject matter experts and external consultants to continuously build and improve our emergency response by designing, developing, and delivering emergency management trainings, including ICS training. As emergency response has matured across the company, we've added more specialized trainings and made more training opportunities available to our personnel. Business Resiliency is constantly looking at ways to improve the offered emergency management and emergency operations center trainings so that personnel are better prepared to fulfill their roles and responsibilities within the company. This position will help expand those capabilities and strengthen the caliber of trainings offered.

We seek dedicated full-time subject matter experts (SMEs), with knowledge, qualifications, and experience in Emergency Management, Incident Command System and Emergency Operations Center training, and incident response. This position is needed to help meet the needs for our emergency and incident management training program, which continues to deliver high quality training consistent with government standards and standard methodologies, but that is also tailored to the specific needs of an electric utility. This position will also provide direct support to our response teams during evaluated exercises and operational activations.

Detailed Things you will be doing…….

Do you like driving process improvements by improving and maturing incident management and response capabilities? Through a comprehensive training program that is coordinated with planning, operations, and exercises, while also incorporating industry best practices and lessons learned, you will accomplish that for us and more.

* Develop and improve curriculum, training materials, and job aids, and deliver effective training that improves the knowledge, skills, and abilities of response team members as well as field and support staff.


* Serve as one of our emergency management SMEs for and incident response including the National Incident Management System and ICS.
* Engage emergency management partners at the local, state, and Federal level, and with utility industry professionals.
* Support real-world incidents as an emergency management SME.
* Provide classroom instruction for our courses on emergency management, ICS, and incident response. This requires facilitation and presentation skills, an existing knowledge and validated experience within the emergency management profession, and previous teaching experience of ICS courses.
* Improve design and maintenance of new and existing course content and materials, to include instructor guides, student manuals, PowerPoint, and other classroom materials. Review and update position job aids. Lead design and development of innovative courses for cross-functional incident management teams and field-level personnel.
* Analyze and make technical recommendations, which may have a major impact at our corporate and/or department level. This includes input, recommendations, and consultation support for various Business Resiliency initiatives, to include but not limited to; planning, technology, training, exercise evaluation, and risk assessment projects.
* Support real-world emergencies, by reporting to the Emergency Operations Center and acting as a lead coach or other support function for Incident Support and Management Teams.
* Represent SCE at regional and National conferences / workshops, such as the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), California Utilities Emergency Association, and other events.



Qualifications we need you to have……

* You will have 7 years emergency management experience working with public entities; or a combination of public and private sector experience
* You also have four years of experience crafting emergency management classroom instruction or combining emergency management and related subjects
* Experience leading complex projects with multiple partners

Other things that will set you up for success……..

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.


* Five or more years of existing work experience providing emergency management instruction or consultation within the electric utility industry
* Local, state, or federal level with training and exercise program implementation experience along with demonstrated use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Certificate and/or Licenses:

* Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), accredited through the IAEM, or other recognized emergency / crisis management qualification
* Completion of FEMA training on the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP); or equivalent
* Course E/L 449; Incident Command System Curricula Train-the-Trainer or National Wildfire Coordinating Group Course M-410; Facilitative Instructor or Approved equivalent train-the trainer course
* Registered with the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) as an instructor
* Completion train-the-trainer courses for FEMA position-specific trainings (e.g. Operations Section Chief or Planning Section Chief).
