Program Overview:

This position is part of Southern California Edison's (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2019 and an estimated end date of August/September 2019. SCE offers these programs with the belief that learning and development are important parts of building future leaders. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, and cross-company networking.

About Transmission & Distribution:

SCE's Transmission & Distribution organizational unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining the infrastructure to safely and reliably deliver electricity to SCE's customers throughout our 50,000 square mile service territory. Our transmission assets deliver power from generating stations to our distribution grid, which brings the electricity to homes and businesses across Southern California.

Distribution:

Distribution is comprised of the Distribution Construction & Maintenance (DC&M), Distribution Resource Planning & Project Management (DC&M RPPM), and Central Design & Field Accounting (CD&FA) groups. In addition to designing, constructing, and maintaining the electric distribution system, Distribution accurately and compliantly capitalizes plant assets into our rate base. Distribution handles assets of approximately $11.2 billion in current assets, and will lead the construction and ultimate maintenance and operation of an additional $5.8 billion in distribution assets over the next five years.

About this internship:

* Gathers documents and researches data using databases, files, spreadsheets, or other sources. Draws conclusions from it to create and edit reports for delivery to Region and District Management Teams.


* Research and Analyze anomalies regarding work orders i.e. capital vs. function work.


* Review work order for completeness, verify necessary documents are present and obtain missing items.


* Review inactive work orders with Project Manager and ensure proper closing out or cancelling of work orders


* Close and confirm accuracy of notifications in a timely manner.


* Reconcile completed work orders ensuring that the work order is complete before forwarding.


* Participate in monthly team meetings and present on topics periodically.


* Perform other responsibilities as assigned.



Required Qualifications:

* Must currently be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering or related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2019 or later.

Preferred Skills:

* Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook.
* Experience with Excel functions.
* Experience with Database functions.
