Job Description

Edelman Seattle is looking for an intern to join our Technology team!

This intern must be able to work effectively with a variety of account service staff within a specific set of technology-focused accounts. S/he must have an interest in enterprise technology or appreciate the challenge of learning about this evolving space.

Additionally, s/he must have strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines. S/he must have solid knowledge of MS Office Suite and superior verbal and written communication skills. This intern is generally someone who has recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree, has communications-related internship experience and is looking for entry-level experience in Public Relations. S/he must demonstrate the ability to become a strong writer and possess a keen eye for detail. Familiarity with the Public Relations discipline through past coursework and/or other internships is desirable.


This intern is responsible for assisting with implementing and monitoring projects within a specific set of accounts under the direction of the supervisor. S/he works closely with and supports the needs of the account teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Identify and analyze media coverage across print, broadcast and online resources to generate reports and coverage flags
* Support client launches and closely monitor resulting coverage from announcements
* Assist with monitoring client competition coverage
* Develop and update media lists
* Assist with preparation of press kits for distribution
* Pitch media under the direction of the supervisor
* Basic understanding of principles of PR
* Familiarity with AP style and strong writing skills
* Basic understanding of technology industry trends
* Willingness to learn clients' business, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
* Participation in brainstorms when invited by the supervisor
* Use social media as tools to monitor for industry trends, report on PR results and identify industry influencers
* Conduct and compile research for new business opportunities


Intern candidates must have an interest in and knowledge of the public relations field and possess good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

Experience with enterprise technology and previous internships are appreciated but not necessary.

About our internship program:

* The duration of the internship is a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months
* Interns are paid $15.00 per hour, plus overtime when approved by management
* This intern will be a post-graduate and work a full-time schedule (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm)
