The North America Trade Compliance Manager works within the Global Trade Compliance team to develop and execute trade-related processes and takes all appropriate measures to establish and maintain an effective, risk-based trade compliance program within the North America region. This position relies on experience and judgment to ensure achievement of corporate business objectives and operational goals while ensuring compliance with all legal and risk-mitigation requirements. The NATCM must be independent and objective, with an ability to stay organized under demanding circumstances. This position requires excellent communication and research skills.
 
Job duties and responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the Global Trade Compliance function within the North America region and coordinate activities with the broader corporate team.
  • Ensure management and employees are in compliance with the trade-related rules and regulations of regulatory agencies and that company trade-related policies and procedures are being followed; monitor trade processes.
  • Manage team of regional trade compliance specialists
  • Provide insight to the Director, Global Trade Strategy & Compliance on activities within region.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for trade-related activities, and develop and execute audit program to evaluate implementation and compliance with policies by trade operations.
  • Oversight of "know your customer" programs under applicable law and company policy for impacted products and determine and evaluate all "red flags"
  • Oversee and execute day-to-day operations of the Global Trade Compliance program within North American region, including overseeing order-level screen evaluations and releases and documentation of compliance controls.
  • Assist in the coordination of the compliance activities of other departments and conduct audits to assess performance and gather/record data in order to identify trends.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Provide reports on a regular basis on the implementation and progress of compliance efforts. and as directed or requested. Assist in augmenting an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all relevant employees.
  • Develop and Conduct periodic audits of regional compliance program and develop systems to measure compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and government agencies.
  • Oversee preparation, submission, and administration of export licenses, agreements, and miscellaneous correspondence to cognizant government agencies.
  • Assist in arranging and coordinating various meetings with governmental agencies.
  • Maintain expertise in trade-related regulations and trends through on-going education and participation in relevant governmental and trade association meetings.
  • Collaborate with other company functions for all related import/export matters to ensure compliance.
  • Domestic and regional travel from 25% to 35% of work time to third party sites, entry/export ports, Eastman facilities, and other business sites.
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree required
     
    EXPERIENCE: At least 4 years relevant experience in the field; Supervisory experience
