Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
Occupational Therapy

Job Summary

Eastern Washington University and the Department of Occupational Therapy invite applications for an individual to serve as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC). Start date for this position is August 1, 2018.

The position is a full-time AFWC in Occupational Therapy. This is a 12-month exempt appointment.

AFWC responsibilities include the following activities: supervise and coordinate all fieldwork experiences for OT students; assist OT students in their professional development and internships; establish and maintain relationships with the on-site fieldwork educators and provide training and support to enhance their student programs; and initiate new contracts with hospitals, clinics, schools and emerging practice sites.

Position is open until further notice; screening will begin Monday, April 23, 2018. All materials will be held in strictest confidence; references will not be contacted until candidates have been notified.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy must be completed by start date
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas
  • Experience as a fieldwork educator
  • Knowledge of local practice community
  • Experience with administering complex work processes with minimal supervision, under tight timelines
  • Ability to be persuasive and persistent when seeking placement leads
  • Experience working with inter-professional colleagues
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Washington
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills as reported by professional peers
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Six or more years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas including physical disabilities and/or mental health
  • Completion of the AOTA fieldwork educator training
