Job Description

Company Overview

Eastern’s original shipyard was established in 1976 for the purpose of constructing commercial fishing boats for the company’s founder and President, Brian R. D’Isernia. As the owner of a fleet of commercial fishing vessels, Mr. D’Isernia ventured into the world of shipbuilding after learning first hand that the only way to get the type of vessels he wanted was to design the vessels, write the specifications, and build them himself. As he built and developed his own personal fleet of vessels, other professionals in the industry took notice and also began desiring their own custom built vessels. Soon customers in areas including New England, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska were contacting Eastern with requests for customized fishing vessels. By 1980, 26 commercial fishing vessels had been constructed and delivered.

About Eastern Shipbuilding Group

Eastern Shipbuilding Group is a shipbuilding and marine repair company specializing in commercial steel and aluminum vessel construction and repair. Eastern also engages in industrial steel fabrication. Eastern Shipbuilding Group, depending on work load, has employed from 100 up to 1100 employees. Over the past few years, employment levels have been around 300 to 400 persons. Many or our key superintendents and foremen have been employed here at Eastern an average of over 15 years. Working as a team, Eastern Shipbuilding Group has become one of today's leading innovators in marine construction and repair, with three modern shipbuilding yards located in Bay County, Florida. Eastern Shipbuilding Group's eleven acre Nelson Street shipbuilding and repair facility is located close to downtown Panama City, Bay County, Florida and has over 1,300 feet of water frontage situated on deep water St. Andrew Bay, a short distance from the Gulf of Mexico. Adjacent to the Nelson street shipyard is our six acre East Avenue fabrication yard, where much of the modular pre-fabrication is performed. Eastern Shipbuilding Groups largest shipyard facility is a 140 acre site which is located 12 miles east in Allanton, Bay County, Florida. This facility has over 5,200 feet of water frontage and is adjacent to the intercostal waterway. This large facility is laid out for multiple vessel, as well as large vessel construction. Eight 200' supply vessels were built at this facility within a twelve month period, and the largest vessels built to date have been two 401' sulfur tankers. Presently at the Allanton facility, State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers permits are in place to quadruple the size of the launch basin. The length of the basin in which to launch vessels and barges will be increased from 400' to 730', and the width will be increased from 125' to 200'. This expansion will make Allanton an ideal facility for large articulated tug barge construction. Over the years, Eastern Shipbuilding Group has positioned itself for longevity in the shipbuilding industry and marketplace by constructing a wide variety of vessels. This diversity continues to bolster Eastern Shipbuilding Group's market share and facilitates their reputation of building a varied collection of top-quality vessels.
