Job Description

Intern Code: INTEC

Intern Title: Intern Early Childhood Special

Education Student

Intern Objective: To participate in an Internship under the

guidance of a certified

Early Childhood Special Educator.

Qualifications:

* Student must be a qualified student in

a credentialed Early Childhood program and have approval from his or her program

director


* Students must have approval from HR

prior to starting internship hours


* Valid driver's license and reliable

transportation

Competencies:

State criminal record (For additional required background checks see Appendix B)

Essential

Responsibilities:


* Students will observe a certified

Early Childhood Special Educator during internship hours.
* Students will perform procedures

and activities under the direct supervision of a certified Early Childhood

Special Educator.
* Students will observe at least 1

developmental evaluation.
* Students will observe treatment by

a licensed Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist and

Educator.
* Students will assist with

activities as directed by a licensed educator, PT, PTA, SLP or OT during

therapeutic groups.
* Students will integrate procedures

and techniques learned in their Early Childhood programs while working

under the direct supervision of a certified Early Childhood Special

Educator.
* Students will provide education and

clinical updates to parents or caregivers under the direction of a certified

Early Childhood Educator.
* Students will provide an inservice

to staff.
* Students will meet weekly with

their Program Instructor(s) to review progress and goals for Internship.
