Job Description

We are looking for unpaid Intern/Practicum students with flexible schedules to be co-coaches for PEERS or Children's Friendship Training (CFT) social skills groups for teens and children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The PEERS/CFT Interns will work closely with, and report to, the staff member in charge of the respective program. The students in this position will gain a solid and practical understanding of social skills development, developmental diagnoses, and the intervention methods in the program they are assisting.

Must be available for at least one of the following sessions:

* PEERS Tuesdays from 6- 8:30pm Jan. 8, 2019 -- April 16, 2019 (St. Charles)
* CFT Tuesdays from 4:30 -- 6pm Jan. 15, 2019 --April 9, 2019 (St. Charles)
* PEERS Thursdays from 6-8:30pm April 18, 2019-- July 18, 2019
* CFT Tuesdays from 4:30 -6pm April 16, 2019--July 2, 2019
* PEERS Thursdays from 6 -- 8:30pm Aug. 29, 2019 --Dec. 12, 2019
* CFT Tuesdays from 4:30 -- 6pm Aug. 27, 2019 --Nov. 12, 2019

Duties:

* Tracking points earned by each student, participating in role play, and supervising, encouraging, and providing feedback to students during their social skills practice time.
* Interns need to arrive at least a half hour before the session begins in order to practice role play with the session leader.
* Dress is business casual (no jeans).

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma required. Special Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Language Therapy, or Social Work students preferred.

Other: Knowledge/experience with children/teens on the autism spectrum is preferred.
