Job Description

SUMMARY

Manages a team of Field Brand Managers who are tasked with developing and

capitalizing on various direct marketing programs that drive brand awareness among the

targeted wine consuming demographic and positively impacts the amount of products

that are distributed and sold. Develops relationships with brand stakeholders and other

key influencers. Cultivates plans and strategies that will ultimately drive increased case

sales for the winery.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Oversees brand marketing and promotional activities of Field Brand Managers in

assigned states or markets.

- Manages and executes the BU's strategic platforms for the brand.

- Provides guidance to team in securing, planning and executing brand sponsored

events in the geographic area of responsibility.

- Drives brand vision strategy for geographic area of responsibility.

- Seeks and identifies local event sponsorship or donation programs to market and

leverage the brand; provides training guidance to Field Brand Managers in seeking

and identifying local event sponsorship or donation programs.

- Maintains responsibility for the marketing/ charitable budget for the area; assigns

budget dollars to Field Brand Managers for use in their geographic area of

responsibility and ensures compliance.

- Ensures staffing needs are met; partners with 3rd party demo agencies ensuring

enough staff is available in the area to conduct product demos.

- Manages D2C programs for national key accounts for major chains; works with

national accounts team to create and maintain master schedule.

- Manages the areas "marquee events" (greater than a 10,000 consumers); ensures that

all contracts have been finalized and the agreed items are executed by the responsible

party.

- Oversees the contract negotiation process with event promoters; works with the

compliance department to get contracts finalized.

- Partners with field sales personnel and participates in local Key Account sales calls.

- Presents product demo schedules/plans to Gallo sales and distributor sales teams

allowing for the leveraging opportunities with local accounts in the area.

- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental

and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others,

responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops, coaches and mentors subordinate staff.

- Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; rewards

employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and

resolves issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

- Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of CPG sales or marketing experience reflecting

increasing levels of responsibility; or Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of E. & J. Gallo

Winery sales, marketing, public relations or Gallo affiliated distributor sales

management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or 9 years of

CPG sales or marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or 8

years of E. & J. Gallo Winery sales, marketing, public relations or Gallo affiliated

distributor sales management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

- Valid driver's license and successful completion of background check. Required to

obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days

of hire.

- Required to travel by air, car, and or train in the course of business.

- Required to lift and move product weighing up to 40 lbs.

- Required to employ an alternative work schedule to include weekends and evenings.

- Required to obtain a liquor license as required by state/locally.

- Required to be 21 years of age or older.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration plus 6 years of Gallo Winery to include

direct to consumer experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

- Gallo Winery or Gallo affiliated distributor district manager experience.

- Gallo affiliated distributor experience during the holiday selling season.

- Experience selling or marketing to a target demographic.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

- Strong problem solving and motivational skills.

- Experience executing duties as part of a team.

- Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals,

professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

- Experience effectively presenting information and responding to questions from

groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,

proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

- Knowledge of the concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

- Experience with solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete

variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

- Experience with interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,

diagram, or schedule form.
