William Hill Vineyards and Winery is seeking a Tasting Room Representative as part of a team to support tasting room operations in a manner that achieves the established financial goals, ensures a rich consumer experience, builds consumer loyalty and reflects the brand essence. Primary functions include cash register operations, product knowledge, product presentations, sales and service.

What You Will Do:

  • Opens and closes the Tasting Room daily.
  • Opens, tastes and inventories selected wines for pouring daily.
  • Executes all wine quality control procedures.
  • Participates in assignments that benefit the tasting room financially and operationally.
  • Presents selected wines and assists consumers with their purchases.
  • Functions as an informed resource for consumers regarding winemaking, wine growing, wine vintages and availability of products.
  • Leads Tasting Room personnel in assigned projects and initiatives. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of brand awards and accolades.
  • Operates cash registers accurately and efficiently.
  • Participates in monthly inventories.
  • Coordinates weekly wine orders.
  • Receives all non wine merchandise, verifies accuracy of paperwork.
  • Stocks wine and non wine merchandise daily.
  • Tracks daily visitors.
  • Maintains supplies based on business needs.
  • Conducts consumer tours as needed.
  • Promotes the benefits of joining the Wine Club.
  • Participates in special events and pouring opportunities as needed.
  • Processes phone orders and wine shipping orders in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Checks identification as required by state regulation for serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Recognizes the symptoms of intoxication and informs a manager.
  • Represents the company and Brand professionally, graciously and enthusiastically.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of retail sales, wine marketing, or hospitality experience or 5 years retail sales, wine marketing, or hospitality experience.
  • Cash register experience.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Required to lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of tasting room, wine sales, wine marketing, or hospitality experience.
  • Knowledge of the different wine varietals.
  • Skilled in the use of a cash register.
  • Skilled in communication, presentation, sales and customer service.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Skilled in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
