Gallo is hiring for a Hosptiality Supervisor that willl supervise and provide direction to Wine Ambassadors ensuring tasks are completed as assigned.  Represents the company at dinners, lunches, special events and wine tastings by presenting information about winery products as well as the winery itself.  Also is responsible for leading guided educational tours of vineyards and winery.

What You Will Do:

  •  Participates in the training, instruction, and development of Wine Ambassadors.  
  • Meets with Wine Ambassadors to review properties, visitors, and equipment needs.
  • Manages the assignment schedule for wine ambassadors.
  • Oversees the onboarding program of new wine ambassadors.
  • Partners with the Events Operations and Education department teams to coordinate the Focus Program.
  • Oversees experience Marketing Internship Program from recruitment to hiring and evaluating project work.
  • Educates senior sales management, wine merchants, trade groups, general winery staff, consumers and community groups on the distinctions between wine varieties, brands, regions and producers from around the world.
  • Researches, develops, composes, coordinates and hosts trade visitor programs, ensuring the experience is “best of industry” for each guest.
  • Provides expert responses to questions regarding winegrowing, winemaking and seasonal activities in the vineyard and winery.
  • Participates in conducting Fine Wine Seminars for entry level through senior sales staff.
  • Participates in monitoring and reviewing the progress and accuracy of the assigned work of Wine Ambassadors, as well as monitoring the work of outside vendors.
  • Creates/coordinates unique trade visitor programs.
  • Supports Marketing staff with off-site tastings and Sales staff with sales in their markets.
  • Develops, composes and facilitates additional educational offerings, including blending and aroma seminars and barrel tasting programs.
  • Develops curriculum for high level wine education overlays.
  • Leads the development of new employee training, tour content and procedures.  
  • Completes proper documentation, such as tour summaries, tour evaluations, database management and general correspondence.
  • Participates in recruiting of new employees.
  • Provides performance feedback to team members in a timely manner.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of hospitality, public relations, communications or sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR 9 years of hospitality, public relations, communications or sales experience reflecting increasing levels or responsibility.
  • Required to be a Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Specialist of Spirits.
  • Experience working directly for a winery, fine wine account, or distributor.
  • Required to possess knowledge of Sonoma, Napa, Central Coast, the Great Central Valley and their relationships to other regions/wines of the world.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of background check. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; schedules and approves overtime; takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
