Job Description

Basic Function

This is an Accounting Assistant position in the Cape Girardeau Corporate Office.  Provides accounting and administrative support duties for the Accounts Receivable and Sales Tax Departments, as outlined below.  In addition, acts and maintains a high standard of integrity, service, and hospitality at all times to promote the Drury culture with co-workers, vendors & customers.  

Job Duties

  • Has a +1 Service attitude and provides courteous, friendly customer service by responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries and requests.
  • Maintains sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner and maintains discretion/confidentiality in all matters.
  • Obtain and provide W-9’s as requested by all affiliated Drury entities.  This includes the collection of W-9’s from new vendors as they are set up
  • Collect, organize and review information as it pertains to Sales Tax reviews and audits
  • Assist in the sales, use and occupancy tax registration of new Drury hotel entities
  • Complete credit applications for all affiliated Drury entities
  • Review monthly sales tax reconciliations for accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist Assistant Controller in the Direct Bill application credit review, set up and maintenance of direct bill accounts
  • Complete various administrative forms as requested**
  • Review AR aging reports and assist or direct hotel management in collection of selected past due balances
  • Maintain system wide bad debt detail on a monthly basis for periodic analysis
  • Assist with special projects and other tasks that may be required from time to time (including occasional backup support with bank reconciliations, posting of charge backs, etc)

Requires ability to relate to the public and co-workers in a warm, friendly manner contributing to a hospitable environment.  Requires ability to give attention to detail and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.  Requires a thorough knowledge of Company policies and procedures as they relate to job responsibilities.  Requires ability to maintain effective working relationships with vendors and service providers.  Must be proficient with use of Microsoft Office software and have the ability to do data entry with efficiency and accuracy.  Must have the ability to work efficiently and independently.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

A high school diploma or equivalent with some college or technical school coursework is preferred and minimum of three (3) years of job-related experience. Experience in Excel formula writing and data analysis is required. Experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Sales Tax is preferred. 

  •  Proficiency in or knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel and Microsoft Word software. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  •  Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

While performing the duties of this Job, the team member is required to sit the majority of the time while working.  Use hands to finger, handle and feel and reach with hands and arms. The team member is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
