Job Description

Basic Function

Under General Direction describes menu and daily specials, takes orders, serves food and beverages to the guests. Provides exceptional service to all guests and potential guests by assisting them in a friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner.  Follows Company policies and procedures.  Maintains the work area in a clean, well organized manner, and assists others as needed.

Job Duties

  1. Has a +1 Service Attitude and works cooperatively with all team members to provide a positive dinning experience for each guest.
  2. Complete daily opening and/or closing checklist. 
  3. Processes guest orders to ensure that all items are prepared properly and on a timely basis.
  4. Communicates effectively with kitchen for food ordering.
  5. Ensures cleanliness of restaurant including polished flatware, clean glassware and dinnerware.
  6. Proactively observes diners to ensure that the guests are satisfied with the food and service, responds to additional requests and determines when the meal has been completed.
  7. Totals bills and accepts payment or refers the guests to cashier.
  8. May assist with stocking, removing and resetting dishes, silverware between courses and cleaning and resetting vacated tables.
  9. Appreciates the diversity of our team and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  10. Set/ display food and beverages on buffet tables for delivery to function guests requiring buffet service.
  11. Performs set-up and closing side-work; stock service station, makes coffee, etc.  Presets trays as necessary; prepares flatware “roll-ups”.
  12. Serves food, beverages to functions and restaurant guests in a friendly courteous manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  13. Quietly removes china, silver and glassware to kitchen steward’s area.
  14. Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner.  Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  15. Presents a professional image at all times through appearance and dress in accordance with company policy.
  16. Abides by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve liquor to anyone who is under age, or who appears inebriated.
  17. Completes all required training.  Attends and participates in all scheduled employee.
  18. Complies with all safety / security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and the hotel.
  19. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires ability to take written and verbal direction and speak English clearly and read English.  Requires ability to relate to the public in a warm, friendly manner in providing a hospitable environment.  Requires ability to give attention to detail and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.  Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.

Requires Alcohol Awareness Certification as required by local or state government agency.

Fulfill certification requirements as required by franchise.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Education:     Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to High School diploma.

 

Experience:    Minimum of 1 year of experience in food & beverage and/ or hospitality related work experience.

 

Certification and /or License Requirement: Alcohol awareness certification and/ or food service permit as required by local or state government agency.  

 

Physical Skills: Requires ability to walk and stand during working period or up to 5 or 6 hours.  Requires ability to carry trays up to 50 pounds.  Requires ability to lifts 25-50 pounds intermittently during the work shift.

Working Relationships

  1. Reports to AM/PM Supervisor or Manager on Duty.
  2. Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.
