Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy Insights Division is seeking an Energy Consultant to join our team, that is responsible for growing our grid modernization and asset management practice and is expanding to better integrate distribution system planning, distributed energy resources (DER), grid analytics, system reliability, grid operations, and asset renewal. This position is based out of our client office in Baltimore, Maryland and will report to our DNV GL Arlington, Virginia office

Tasks May Include

* Primary
* Provide sound technical and business advisory guidance to clients on matters pertaining to grid modernization and operation
* Support client initiatives
* Build outstanding client relationships based on domain knowledge, trust, and willingness to step up and do what's necessary
* Ready and open to apply new approaches and methods to solving customer challenges


* Secondary
* Promote and advance customers through technical networking
* Build personal brand and knowledge base
* Help advance the DNV GL brand and thought leadership


* Core
* Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art energy delivery technology and market trends affecting products and services
* Proficient in data analytics
* Deliver projects and services with diligence, integrity, and purpose
* Highly motivated to drive client and consultant team success
* Understand electric utility delivery systems, distribution operations, distribution networks, substation systems, associated regulatory requirements, etc.
* Understand utility business issues and drivers; articulate services/solutions/recommendations



Position Qualifications

Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
* Minimum 1 year of experience in the utility industry (coursework or internship will be considered)
* Knowledge and experience with power engineering (distribution, transmission, and substations)
* Knowledge of the various domains in power delivery
* Knowledge of optimization methods, statistical analysis, and business cases development
* Knowledge of power system planning processes, procedures, applications
* Knowledge of technologies and relevant vendor solutions for power systems
* Fluent in MS Office products
* Professional Engineer license is desired
* PMP is plus
* Willingness and ability to travel, up to 50% of the time
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills
* We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
