Job Description

District 19 Community Services Board is seeking a qualified mental health professional to provide support for consumers in the Mental Health Psychosocial Day Program in Emporia, Virginia. Essential duties of this position include: developing service plans, completing quarterly reviews, assisting SMI adults with increasing independent living skills, providing psycho-educational group facilitation, providing transportation during community integration activities and community outings. Must have the ability to interact verbally and in writing with enhanced communication skills with consumers and employees, and submit required reports timely.

Successful candidate is required to meet the DBHDS definition of "Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A)"

At least a bachelor's degree in human services or related field (social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, human services counseling or other degree deemed equivalent to those described) from an accredited college and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness;
an individual with a master's degree in psychology from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience;
a person with at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an unrelated field that includes at least 15 semester credits (or equivalent) in a human services field and who has at least three years of clinical experience;
any other licensed mental health professional.

Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule during holidays, obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Position requires pre-employment extensive background check and drug screening, and a driver's license in state of residence with a -6 point balance or higher.

Preferred candidate will have experience working in a mental health setting including working with a multidisciplinary team, experience working with co-occurring disorders, computer skills and basic knowledge of electronic health records, CPR and first Aid certification, knowledge of Crisis Intervention, experience in clinical record documentation, experience facilitating psycho-educational groups, experience with recreational activities, and experience driving a 15 passenger van.

This is a Grade 207 salaried position. Minimum salary: $37,590.76.

Starting salary for new employees will be based on the prospective employee's knowledge, skills and abilities directly relating to the position's duties. Current or most recent verified salary will also be taken into consideration prior to making an offer of employment. Starting salaries for new employees will not exceed the advertised maximum and will be based on the availability of funding within the current budget.
