Over the span of 12 weeks, you will have the opportunity to work on real projects and develop meaningful mentor partnerships. Love to learn? Good, because you will participate in weekly lunch events with leaders, trainings and development courses. Don't forget the fun stuff… social events, volunteer days and take an inside look at DIRECTV by touring our broadcast centers and joining a technician on a Ride-Along for the day. DIRECTV is looking for motivated and passionate students to intern with the Entertainment Systems organization. In Entertainment Systems, we design and implement the backend software and infrastructure that runs our digital broadcast TV platform, IP-delivered video (both live streaming and on-demand) and big data initiatives.

Our interns work closely with our team members to develop innovative solutions that help us deliver a better entertainment experience for our customers. Our core disciplines include:

Software engineering Software architecture Quality assurance Subsystem engineering Network engineering System administration Infrastructure planning We have 15 internship positions within the Entertainment Systems organization.


Entertainment Systems Requirements:

Undergrad or grad student in computer science or engineering with a motivation to learn cool technologies Ability to tackle complex technical problems Good technical writing and communication skills Ability to work well in a team environment Must be returning to school for at least one term after summer 3.0 minimum GPA
Desired technical skills depend on selected role and include:

Software development in Java, C/C++, or scripting languages (shell, groovy, perl, etc.) Linux operating systems SOAP and REST web services Structured Query Language (SQL) Knowledge of Hadoop and related big data technologies Networking protocols
