Title IX Coordinator

Title IX Coordinator

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Title IX Coordinator provides administrative support for civil rights related matters in the DSU community. In addition, this department coordinates Title IX cases, and oversees investigations and policy related matters. This position is the coordinator of all aspects of Title IX at the University; and is responsible for other civil rights related matters including Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity and Employee Disability compliance, and associated training of the campus community. This position aids with other compliance and policy implementation and is an integral team member of the Human Resources department, offering expertise in appropriate areas.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the President, with a dotted-line reporting structure to the Director of Human Resources


* Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related
* Demonstrated competencies in oral and written communication
* Demonstrated competencies in relationship management (i.e. Interpersonal communication skills)
* Ability to operate a computer and at a minimum MS Office Suite software


* A working knowledge of Title IX
* A working knowledge of other civil rights related matters
* Classroom and/or online curriculum teaching experience
* Servant leadership oriented

COMPENSATION: Includes a salary of $50,000 - $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. And a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including employer-paid full-family coverage health insurance, TIAA retirement, tuition waiver benefits and much more.

LOCATION: Dickinson, ND

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible


* Be visible in the institutional community and have the appropriate training; and be associated with all of the following, but not limited to: sexual misconduct policies, notice of nondiscrimination statements, grievance procedures, investigation procedures, remedies and sanctions, and appeal procedures; all in compliance with applicable laws
* Update, implement, and follow established DSU guidelines, work with students, faculty, administrators, staff and visitors to resolve concerns related to discrimination and harassment
* Research/develop, administer, assist, and track training regarding the awareness of and aspects related to "Title IX Sexual Harassment and Violence regulations and the rights and obligations provided under the law" for students, faculty, administration and staff, as often as necessary
* Administer consequences for employees and students not in compliance with training requirements
* Receive and promptly respond to complaints, apply interim measures and due process, accordingly
* Recruit and retain investigators, and facilitate investigator training as needed
* Consistently review DSU's policies to ensure they provide equal access, are nondiscriminatory, and in compliance with regulations
* Provide guidance in DSU's compliance and implementation with accessibility provisions of the ADA
* Review policies and practices regarding/providing oversight in compliance with any other civil rights related matters as required or requested:
* Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, national origin, religious discrimination)
* Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (age discrimination)
* Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1991 (disability discrimination)
* Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA)
* Family Rights and Privacy (educational privacy)
* Vietnam Era Veteran's Readjustment Act of 1974, as amended

* Develop, facilitate, and track training participation/completion as needed, including, but not limited to:
* Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, national origin, religious discrimination)
* Family Rights and Privacy
* Legal and policy requirements associated with recruitment and selection of new employees
* Diversity Awareness
* Other applicable DSU policies and procedures

* Aid in DSU's compliance with recruitment and employment processes
* Advise and prepare advertising for vacant positions
* Manage posting of materials for vacant positions
* Manage the application processing process
* Guide search committees through the steps of the selection process (ensuring that each search is conducted in an open, fair, legal and competitive environment)
* Facilitate proper retention of records

* Assist with the management and accessibility of institutional policies, procedures, and/or handbooks
* Complete required federal and state reports as requested
* As needed, provide a minimum level of customer support for all services performed by Human Resources (staffing, hiring, payroll, benefits and employee relations); including a basic knowledge of DSU's participation in the State Risk Management Program, Workforce Safety and Insurance, and Wellness programs.
* Maintain the ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
* Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
* Strive to provide the best professional and confidential assistance to employees, interns and volunteers
* Strive to provide a congenial and satisfying place to work and visit
* Offer expertise in appropriate areas
* Assist with other duties and responsibilities as requested
