Job Description

We are Germany’s leading bank with strong positions in Europe and significant presence in the Americas and Asia Pacific. We’re driving growth through our strong client franchise, investing heavily in digital technologies, prioritising long-term success over short-term gains, and serving society with ambition and integrity. That means a career packed with opportunities to grow and the chance to shape the future of our clients.

About your internship

Join us and you will be an integral part of our team. Over 10 intensive weeks you will experience what it’s like to work for our international bank. You will go through two job rotations and gain a wide range of practical experience. During your internship, you will also benefit from training courses, seminars and a variety of networking events. Successful interns will be invited to join the Deutsche Bank Graduate Program.

About Global Markets: Commercial Real Estate

The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) combines Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Finance, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking businesses. This new business division was created in 2017 with the aim to ensure greater alignment of product and sales efforts, enabling the bank to deliver a better service to clients and a more focused resource allocation.

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) forms part of the Structured Finance product that sits within our Global Markets division. It provides the financing behind the real estate portfolios of public corporations, private equity groups and institutional investors. The debt originated by the team is distributed via commercial mortgage backed securities, loan syndications, or held on balance sheet.  The properties in question are diverse, ranging from hotels and office buildings to industrial premises and retail outlets, throughout North America. Consistently ranked at the top of global league tables, our CRE team is a leader in its field thanks to its global footprint, breadth of products, depth of capabilities and success in delivering the most complex transactions.

The Role

Our interns are given the opportunity to learn about our business from different viewpoints, giving you a career advantage.

Starting with up to a week of classroom-based training, you’ll then complete two rotations within CRE. These will depend on your interests, your location and the needs of our business but you can be sure you'll gain a real understanding of the work we do.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on your role. But you might be evaluating a client’s credit risk profile, performing property market research, modelling property cashflows, or preparing loan materials and reports. Your learning curve will be steep as you get involved in current deals and interact with various teams involved in the loan origination process. But you’ll enjoy plenty of support from managers and mentors, along with unparalleled global exposure.

Your qualifications

We are looking for bright minds with excellent academic records and some practical work experience to create a positive impact for our customers.

  • Are you passionate about finance?
  • Do you have an academic focus on business or natural science, particularly business administration, economics, (industrial) engineering, (business) informatics, (business) mathematics or a comparable subject?
  • Do you have strong communication skills and are you fluent in English?
  • Do you have Excel and general computer skills?
  • Do you have the resilience and dedication required to keep up with the pace of life in this dynamic business?
  • Can you demonstrate a client-centric approach?
  • Can you work well in a team and inspire others with your ideas?
  • Would you describe yourself as a conscientious, dedicated individual with excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail?

Then we look forward to meeting you!
