This position is located in the Mid South Consolidated Patient Account Center (MS-CPAC) in the organization of the Chief Operating Officer, serving as a Program Support Assistant-Facility Revenue Technician, in a satellite office at Dallas, TX. The MS-CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance healthcare revenue operations throughout the Veterans Health Administration network by standardization and consolidation of functions as the integration of VHA and industry best practices.

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION

1st AOC: Current, permanent employees of the Mid South-CPAC and its satellite offices.

2nd AOC: Current, permanent employees of the Department of VA.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

* Reviewing first party receivables.
* Collecting, compiling and/or tracking of data and program information in support of revenue.
* Preparing, executing and/or tracking revenue program specific information.
* Organizing and retrieving computerized data, generating reports of data, reviewing data for inconsistencies and referring to appropriate area for completion.
* Entering information into tracking system and maintaining accurate program specific data for maximum reimbursement.
* Conducting proactive accounts receivable follow up and analysis on various account receivables.
* Responsible for the coordination of billing of worker's compensation or tort cases.
* Providing patient education and assistance concerning Medical Care Cost Fund Program.Providing answers to customer service inquiries regarding accounts receivable, means and co-payment testing and health insurance related issues.

Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

* To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/01/2018.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

* Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
* Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
* 1) Manage first and third-party healthcare accounts through on-line databases, electronic email, telephone conversations, etc, as well as eligibility data.
* 2) Evaluate detailed analysis of coding data for first and third-party accounts which requires utilizing medical terminology and coding requirements.
* 3) Prepare and assess billable and non-billable medical health care services, appropriateness of medical bills, and electronic submission and posting for overall program success.
* 4) Prepare a wide variety of written products, such as reports, memoranda, correspondence, etc. as related to the healthcare revenue.

t5) Research and use public laws, agency healthcare regulations, practices and policies within a healthcare organization to ensure proper sequencing of revenue programs.

tNote: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of Specialized Experience at or comparable to the required grade level.
