JOB SUMMARY: Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.
About the Position:
You will serve as the technical expert within US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) concerning data management planning, development, implementation, problem resolution and administration. As the Systems manager for a multi-user Enterprise Database System for Applications and Software, you will service USACE (ACE-IT), Operations Software Management Division, Software Delivery Section located in Vicksburg MS.

You will also analyze and define data requirements and specifications; designs data models and implement, and maintain multi-user databases. Listed are some of the duties you will perform in this position:
Plan and implement the application of databases for Software. Define and allocate storage capacity in the design of data management systems. Develop data dictionaries, data models and metadata repositories. Plan and coordinate the migration of data to a newer version of a database management system. Conduct performance tuning activities designed to optimize data management processes and recommends performance enhancements. Troubleshoot problems involved in the input, retrieval or modification of applications database information and the general operation and maintenance. Review usage logs on a daily or weekly basis to see and determine abnormal activity and patterns like access and login problems. Determine or Identify warning or error messages and research and resolve/troubleshoot software and applications problems. Communicate with customers, vendors, and manufactures to resolve Software or Applications problems

Experience required:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1)Experience creating database design schema for system application and software integration AND 2) Experience updating the data management systems for migration to a newer version AND 3) Experience optimizing database performance in the design of data mining and data warehouse systems.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Database Administration Research and Analysis Database Design/Development Communications
