The PALACE Acquire Program offers you a permanent position upon completion of your formal training plan. As a Palace Acquire Intern you will experience both personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program offers a 2- Year formal training plan with yearly salary increases. Promotions and salary increases are based upon your successful performance and supervisory approval.

Responsibilities

* Plans own work procedures to be applied in support of projects assigned to higher grade operations research analyst.
* Incumbent is required to make independent decisions concerning standard practices and procedures in performance of multiple tasking.
* Recommends course of action for technical problems which are not covered by standard practices.
* Perform general operations research assignments consisting of a series of interrelated tasks or problems screened by a higher grade operations analyst.
* The incumbent must apply independent judgment in application of the methods and techniques previously learned.
* Assist higher grade analysts in finding solutions to problems requiring a variety of data sources and operations research disciplines.
* Participate in the collection and analysis of the information and data used by the assigned organization to perform operations research tasks.
* Develop written summaries and reports to be used by higher level analysts, contractors and/or customers.
* Present briefings and/or presentations as required.
* Keep abreast of emerging techniques and professional development to remain current in the field, and for application to work assignments.
* Use computers/computer software such as analysis tools to solve operations research problems and facilitate work.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR GS-1515-09:

In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education to qualify at the GS-09 level. All educational requirements must be met not later than 31 Aug 2018.

Successful completion of the requirements of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, meets the requirements for GS-09.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Professional operations research knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, process and/or operational problems and procedures.

2. Ability to perform extensive inquiry into basic data to discover new facts or fundamental relationships.

3. Professional knowledge of operations research and related disciplines (e.g., mathematics) to design, develop and adapt scientific methods and techniques to analyze management problems and procedures.

4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

5. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
