This position is located the Kisatchie National Forest on the Calcasieu Ranger District.

This position is located on a Forest Service unit. The primary purpose of this position is the planning and implementation of a recreation resource program and developed sites (cabins and trails), and dispersed recreation.

Analyzes and advises on the development and execution of minerals, lands, recreation, trails, and special uses programs plans and programs, evaluate the effects of recreation use on other Forest resources, and evaluate forest areas and their potential for natural resources activities.

BASIC REQUIREMENT for 0401 Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences Series

1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.


2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-11: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09.

Specialized experience is defined as: Providing input for the unit interdisciplinary planning teams; participating in developing the unit program of work for all aspects or portions of the unit-planning program, advising, coordinating, or reviewing the annual operating plans and budgets; and conducting routine environmental studies and evaluations and developing environmental analysis reports linking a variety of resources, such as; recreation, special uses, facilities, and travel management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
